Attending our first birthday party

Eloise and I went to our first birthday party together yesterday. Sweet little Lilli turned 2, and her mom is a fierce advocate of taking care of your mental health while parenting little humans.

The party was a 45 minute drive from our home but I realized last minute that it was at a petting zoo. So I decided “What the heck. Let’s give it a try.”

So E and I went. I was overwhelmed with pride as she and I sat there eating pancakes. I didn’t need to bring special food — E could handle both the textures and the content. And, as kids ran around screaming with joy, E was unphased.

How old is she? Can she see? I could feel some of the parents’ nervousness and maybe a little pity as they noticed Eloise in her own world, not making eye contact, not able to move on her own like other kids. Maybe some felt sorry for us noticing all the stuff Eloise couldn’t do.

But I didn’t mind. People can ask any questions they want. And it’s even okay if they feel pity. Because I still feel so proud thinking of all the stuff she can do now.

Y’all. We ate gluten filled dairy filled pancakes and I didn’t even need to make them into tiny pieces. That’s big. She’s growing up.

And, as for the animals and other kids, Eloise mostly ignored them. To E yesterday, the trees were far more interesting. 😝

Oh well. 🤷‍♀️ I’m just thankful for incredible humans who still want to invite us. ❤️

  1. I am helplessly in love with Eloise. I just feel like we are witnessing God working His miracle. I BELIEVE. Love and God bless
