How do we celebrate Eloise’s birthdays?

Eloise will turn 4 this week. And we need your ideas.

Because we still have no idea how to celebrate her birthdays. Or, well any of our birthdays. 🙈

Brian and I have always been rubbish at celebrations any sort of holiday or birthday— we have never given gifts or really even decorated. So we are at a loss of what to do for Eloise.

For the last several months she doesn’t want to eat by mouth, so cake for her doesn’t make sense. For the last half year or so she hasn’t really liked any toy in particular, so toy gifts don’t make sense. We aren’t the type to do lavish themed parties with lots of guests.

Last year we replaced our carpet with a big padded area so she could move around more safely. Last year we also paid forward a few gifts financially and with our time to other families with disabled kids in celebration. Baby K is still too young to really understand birthdays, but we want him to see that Eloise is celebrated on her birthday. So we would like to figure out something.

Then we thought maybe you might have ideas.

How would you celebrate Eloise’s birthday in a way that feels meaningful — preferably in a manner she would also enjoy. 😊

  1. does she like to be read to? If so, you could get a special book for her birthday and read it as a family. You could do this for Baby K as well. Each year a different book suitable for them.
