“It’s been nice to have a little bit of a break from Eloise problems.” I said to Brian Sunday. We both paused, looked at each other, and started laughing.
If a week with 2 hospital visits (one planned, one emergency), Eloise’s head covered in mosquito bites, 4am wake-ups every day, diarrhea still continuing into its second month because antibiotics didn’t work, finding out she has quite a lot of new food allergies she didn’t have before, and preparing to possibly be hospitalized again soon for the diarrhea is “a break” then you can see how low our standards are these days. 😂
Basically since Baby K was born, I keep hoping that every illness, every crisis, every seizure cluster, every GI problem, is the last one for awhile. That with the right treatment, finally we can get a break and get back our happy, giggling Eloise who loves Baby Beluga and putting everything in her mouth that she sees. We miss her.
Even though that break hasn’t come — Eloise still isn’t fully herself and we still need to go to the hospital way too often — this may be the least-crisis time we’ve had since September.
Because, in case we didn’t make it clear, miraculously, Eloise hasn’t had a seizure since April 7 — the morning after we thought we were losing her and she was rushed to the hospital via ambulance. It had turned out she had RSV and double pneumonia, which was unrelated to her having hundreds of seizures. Yet still something the medics gave her that night accidentally stopped clusters of seizures so hard to treat that some of the best epilepsy doctors in this nation couldn’t figure out how to stop them.
Considering in March she had almost 900 seizures and in May she had none, that’s incredible.
But it’s easy to feel grateful when life is calmer. It’s a lot harder when the crises never stop. So thank you for believing when we lose hope. And thank you for praying and believing when we struggle to.
Because I’m so grateful for the support we have — here in person and for you all, our virtual friends and family. We would not be where we are without you.
❤️🙏❤️ Love your beautiful family and your updates! ❤️

It’s like a miracle that her seizures have stopped! Glad you are having a little “break”, hoping you get a bigger, longer term break soon!
